Viggo Mortensen says, in his poem 'Un Beso De Esos':
Even if it disturbs, the truth
is contagious.
I say:
I have a need to be 'disturbed' by new information! I have been lucky to have been brought up to seek knowledge voraciously and to work with my biases instead of against them. To evoke another saying, 'Minds are like parachutes - they only work when they're open.'

That's what makes the truth such a precious and rare commodity - and what is truth? You could say that there are different qualities of truth available for just about every topic of investigation, couldn't you? Bush could be "the worst president ever" or he could be "the president to pour the most funds into Africa since...". It's all a matter of who you listen to, for how long, and with how much attention, for me.
