Do you love yourself?

Oscar Wilde's Lord Arthur Goring in An Ideal Husband says:
To love oneself is the beginning of a lifelong romance.
I say:
Healthy self-esteem is always a wonderful thing to have, no matter how "self-love" can be seen in a negative way. I make adoring myself a major priority, as I know that I am my first love and all the relationships I have are informed by the one I have with myself. I wouldn't be able to accept others' love if I didn't accept my own, and not just accept it but whole-heartedly embrace it.

In theory, I say what you say. In practice, I find it a little harder.
But one thing is for sure, regardless of whether or not I love myself - I DO love Oscar Wilde.

You must love yourself in loving Oscar Wilde... you're onto a good thing, and your honesty will serve you well as you try to figure out what kind of self-love you need more of in your life, I'm thinking.
As for Oscar Wilde, this is only the fifth or so quote of his I've included on Daily Inspirations, lol. He's one of my favourite authors of all time. Did you know that you can read a lot of his plays (and other works) on Really Long Link ?

I used to own it, and even took it with me to Macau when I went on a trip a few years ago, but it wouldn't fit back into my suitcase so I had to leave it behind... I've been meaning to find a replacement for some time now, thakns for reminding me!

That doesn't ring true for me at all...
It's very much possible to be critical of yourself, question yourself, without hating yourself. Love is the establishment of a multitude of feelings of self-worth, so all you need to do is enhance and develop those feelings.
Besides, I don't hate anyone, even Hitler... as Kevin Rudd put it, I don't have that level of angst in me. I prefer to practice tolerance, and I believe love is always the best response to any problem.
