Democracy Vs. Art?

I say:
I think that democracy only exists because people won't compromise on the notion of freedom (no matter hoe badly it's being subverted in the world thanks to Bush), and I think that art is much more likely to flourish and create diverse cultures in a democractic society than in any other.
