Who could possibly be in control but you?

December 11th 2006 16:40

Barbara de Angelis says:

No one is in control of your happiness but you; therefore, you have the power to change anything about yourself or your life that you want to change.

I say:

What is one thing you want to change about yourself?
Right now I want to stop getting dragged down by people who I'm finding it difficult to marginalise as I go about my business... I'm trying to stop getting needlessly angry at their ineptitude and focus on the things that inspire me instead.

I would change?

Perhaps not being so darn stubborn on certain issues.
Not holding grudges & letting things that bother me GO.

I want to get rid of my insecurities and guilt.

I want a fresh start. I want to be content.

I want to learn not to be so sensitive. And control my anger. And have more patience. And become more responsible. And learn to bite my tongue......DO you think they give exchanges on brains somewhere? I think that would be easier for me actually!

I have all of Barbara de Angelis' books, the one I like best is Real Moments.

Anyway if there's one thing i'd like to change it's that i want to be more open to people and possibilities.

I would change by not getting as swept up into other people's drama as I sometimes do.

I say you're right.

People still piss me off, but when it happens I try to sit with it. Not act. Treat it as a moment of listening. Ask what is really happening here---who am I really annoyed with?

More often than not, it's myself.

I say: I should have subscribed to this blog a long time ago (was long ago subscribed to your other one).

I also say: there's a lot to be said for the motivational speaker/existentialist attitude of taking responsibility for everything.

Nietzsche would say: some people are crushed by the heaviest weight, and some are liberated.

Thank you for all your responses, I hope that articulating your problem areas will help you direct your attention to how motivated you are to change... you know exactly what you need to do, which is the first, and most important step along the way! )

Wow, I am so incredibly flattered that you enjoy the blogs enough to subject yourself to them on a regular basis... D
I think Philosophyblog.com.au is one of the best-written blogs, and is now officially my first Orble subscription! I say keep up the terrific level of output!
